Nashville Sounds

Some friends of ours snagged some extra tickets to a Nashville Sounds game and of course we jumped on the opportunity to go.  We have never been to a Sounds game before.  So on June 11th, we met up with the Green's for dinner at Puckett's in Murfreesboro before the game.  We got to the stadium a little early so we hung out for a little bit in the parking garage and ran out some of their energy. 

Our seats were in section 110 behind the Sounds.  Reid went down close to the dugout to watch the guys warmup and practice.

While Reid was watching the players by the dugout, one of the coaches handed him a ball.  He was so excited!

Country singer entertainment.  I mean what other kind of entertainment would you have in Nashville?!  So funny!

After some innings had passed, Vanessa called to tell us there was a ton of room for us to come over and sit with them.  Oh the excitement and dancing when these boys got together!  These boys are the life of the party!

Sound's win!!!!

These 3 have really hit it off since meeting and hanging out and we are super thankful for it!  Hoping these boys continue to build these friendships throughout their years. 

Vols Football Camp

Talk about and excited kid!  Reid was pumped when we told him he was going to go to Tennessee Vols football camp this summer. 

It was a one day camp where the kids were able to tour the football facilities and spend the day doing drills and meeting coaches and players.

Lunch was provided and everyone got to get a picture with Coach Heupel.  Such a fun experience! Got to pass on that Volunteer Pride!

Spring Wrap-up

I have a love hate relationship with wrap-up posts because I love that I can pack a bunch of things into one post but they are usually very random and very lengthy. 

Starting off this wrap-up with school awards.  Liam had Honor Roll and some Achievement award.

Kane got a Citizenship award.

I helped host a baby shower for Ashton's baby boy! 

Took the boys and Landon to Sky Zone during Spring Break. 

Then to Chuy's for dinner!

We then topped off the night with an unsuccessful escape game! But we had a BLAST!!!

We received our batch of spring meat chickens - 8 more weeks and they will be in our freezer!

This is my favorite chicken stage!  They are so cute!

Ugh... they are so ugly and stinky!!!

Maggie got a pregnant cat in hopes that she would have her babies and stick around to care for them.  Momma cat ended up having 6 kittens.  One died shortly after birth so we have five new kittens.  Plan is for Maggie to keep 2, us keep 2 and one is going to our neighbor David's house!

Kids night at the high school baseball game.  We really enjoyed going and watching high school sports this year!

Finally tackling the back porch tongue and groove ceiling.  I used a paint gun this time around.  It wasn't as aesthetically pleasing as doing it by hand but it got the job done much faster!

Reid is wanting to play baseball.  We missed spring ball and we have been playing around with the idea of travel ball.  He is for sure going to play in the fall so we have been having Caleb come over and give him some lessons. 

It's garden time!!!!!  I love this time of year where you get to start your garden.  I have big plans for next year already!

End of the school year means all the fun end of school activities.  Air-evac came to school and the kids got to sit in the helicopter

Liam's 4th grade class participated in Lemonade Day.  Each homeroom class had to come up with a lemonade stand.  They had to figure cost, potential profit and marketing the product.  Each class set up their stand in different areas of town and sold their lemonade.  In the end they learned about what it's like to be an entrepreneur.  They took their profits and saved a percentage for the next years class to start their lemonade stand, gave a percentage to a local charity - Dusty Elam Foundation- and then with the money left over the class was able to have a party of their choice with the money they earned.

So after 8 weeks of feeding and moving the chickens around the yard they were processed.  We were not feeding our last batch of meat chickens enough food so this year we made sure they never ran out of food.  As you can see the comparison, we no longer have to eat 2 chickens to have enough meat to feed our family - haha!

This year we decided to break down some chickens into pieces.  With the leftover bones we decided to try and make some chicken stock.  

Well, that wraps up all the randomness of spring.  Moving on to summer!
