Kentucky Traveler

Yesterday we left for Fulton, Kentucky for a funeral.  My grandmother's brother, (my great uncle) Bill Atwill, passed away.  I got up early that morning, around 6, and ran around the neighborhood because I knew I wouldn't be able to when we got back.  If I don't stay motivated then I won't be motivated.  After my run, Liam and I got ready to go to my moms house to help her curl her hair.  She is unable to do it herself since her surgery.  Uncle Duane and Aunt Ginny met us there with breakfast and we drove to Murfreesboro to meet up with my uncle Jim and then headed on to Kentucky.  Liam is such a good traveler.  He played with Buzz and Woddy, the games on my iPhone and ate hash browns and fruit loops for breakfast.  He napped for a little while and had a small meltdown when he woke up and didn't know where he was. I took him out of his seat for a few minutes.  He was ok to go back into his seat again once I got my iPhone out so he could play games.  Bribery and bad habits, i know!  Once we got to the funeral home, I got him dressed and we went inside to see everyone.  He was entertainment for quite a few people.  We tried to sit through the ceremony, but about 2 minutes into it he started being noisy and flirting with the old ladies behind us.  I couldnt stand it so we had to go out into the foyer, eat snacks and try to preoccupy him with anything I could find.  Once the ceremony was over, we headed to the graveyard, which was in Cayce, Kentucky.

Liam passed out on the way so I sat in the car while everyone else went to the graveside service.  He didn't sleep very long and was very grumpy and whiny they rest of the trip.

It was neat to listen to my mom and uncle point out places they had been and talk about things they had done as a child.  I got to see where grandparents graduated from high school.  Oh what it would have been like to live in those days when you didn't have much and didn't need much.

After the graveside service we ate BBQ and hung out with everyone before we headed back home.

Liam didnt get his full afternoon nap and was super whiny.

Before we started back we drove by some land that some of my family had recently bought which just so happened to be where my mom lived for a little while before they moved to Tennessee. The only thing left there that was there when the lived there was the milk barn and the well.

Here is a picture of my 2 great aunts.  As a child some of my best memories where with these two.  I remember playing on the tractors and Aunt Jane's house and all the family reunions, water slides and paddle boat rides at Aunt Sara Ann's (aka Auntie) house.

We stopped at Dairy Queen halfway through the trip and Liam and I shared an oreo cheesecake blizzard.  He also had a whole hot dog too! Little piggy! I am so glad that Liam and I went.  We don't get to see this side of my family very often and I was glad that I was able to go.

15 Month Check Up

We were one month late on our 15 month check up.  The doctors don't have their schedule out more than 2-3 months at a time.  I get behind and forget to call and schedule his next appointment so I was a month late on this one.  Liam hates the doctor's office like any other toddler does.  He hates laying down and the table, he hates being weighed on the scale, he just hates it.  Once he is in my arms he is fine.  When Dr. Eastham came into the room he wasn't too sure of him but he said that that was normal at this age.  Liam let him listen to him and look in his ears.  He didn't care too much for him looking in his mouth lol.  We talked about some of his milestones and Dr. Eastham seemed to think he was right on track.  He talked about how handsome and awesome he is.  I have to agree with him!  15 month statistics are as follows: Weight - 21.56 pounds, thats a one pound gain making him in the 25th percent. Length - 31 inches long, 1inch longer and in the 27th percent.  Head circumference - 18.8 inches, 71st percent.  My kid has a big head like his daddy.  Hopefully with my brains :)  He received his MMR and Hepatitis A vaccine and took it like a champ.  After he calmed down they sent us on our merry way.

Easter

I was off of work for Easter this year.  We woke up that morning and had breakfast.  After breakfast we saw what the Easter bunny brought Liam.  He loved every bit of it!  We then got ready and dressed for early Church.  It was a good one filled with music and joyful tears.  I haven't been to church like I want and should and I feel guilty at times.  But every time I go it is like I have never stopped.  Church was packed and we had to sit up in the balcony which was nice.  I have never sat up there but I like it!

After church we came home and changed our clothes and headed over to Aunt Leslie and Uncle Duane's house.  We laid around and played with Liam for a little bit.  Then it was finally time to eat.  I love family dinners because the food is so amazing!  Oh and because I get to spend time with all my family :)

After lunch was the egg hunt.  Liam got to be part of it this year with a 5 minute head start HAHA!  I think he did pretty good with a little help from everyone!

Liam's easter basket consisted of good things to eat.  Mostly snacks and some new sippy cups.  I wanted him to have something functional instead of just junk.  It's almost that time to potty train so I figured a potty would be perfect!  He has no interest in sitting in it.  He would rather just play on it.

Im really sad because it has taken me so long to blog about this and I have seemed to misplace my SD card that has all the Easter pictures on it.  Once I find it I will re publish this blog with the pictures :(

The Color Run

March 30 was The Color Run.  I had heard stories about how much fun it was so I had to see for myself.  That morning everyone met at my house and we headed to Nashville.  Holly, Martha and I rode together and Ashton, Dylan and Maggie rode together.  Mark, Ryan and Liam drove down to watch the action.  We stopped at Starbucks for some morning pick me up, knowing exactly what it would do to some of us later. I hate that I didn't get a picture of it either.  Some of us (not me) had to make a pit stop in between some cars during the race.  Strangely, there were no port-a-potties on the course.  So they made their own :)

We made it to Nashville right on time and didn't really stand in line too long.  We were the 3rd or 4th wave to start.

I have to say that it is probably the most fun thing I have done in a long time! It was a 5K and throughout the the race there were stations of color to run through.   We made sure that we we covered in every color.

We tried to make sure that we captured as many moments as possible.  Here are some of us taking pictures are we are running.

The last color was blue and I wanted to be covered in it.  I decided that I was going to spin around as I ran through. Bad idea!  As I was turning the girl thought I just wanted my back covered and as I turned around she nailed my face.  Right then I knew what it was like to be blind.  It was in my eyes, nose and mouth.  After a few minutes I was better but I looked like a smurf!

We had cheerleaders at the finish line, some weren't so happy to see me :(  Here is Liam's reaction to me when he saw my face.

After we finished we decided to take pictures of our colorful selves.

I have saved the best pictures for last.  I can't wait till the next color run!  Next time I will be prepared and wear sunglasses. :)

Fever

So this morning Liam wakes up with a 103.2 fever.  He is teething but I have never heard of a child teething with a 103.2 fever.  So I stripped him down and gave him some Tylenol and called the Dr. office.  He had no other symptoms besides the fever, except for this scratch on his finger.  It looked like an infected hang nail.  So I thought maybe that is what was causing this crazy fever.  So I called Dr. Eastham's office and of course he is on vacation.  So we set an appointment with Dr. Little at 4:30.  We spent all morning laying around in the recliner.  He just wasn't himself.  He didn't want to play. He just wanted to relax in the recliner with his momma.  And I was perfectly okay with that!

Watching Toy Story on the way to the Dr. office :)

We get to the Dr. office and of course his fever is down to 99.4 because when he woke up from his nap it was 102.7 and I had given him ibuprofen.  He was up walking around in the office like nothing was wrong, which is something he hadn't done all day.  Dr. Little listened to him, looked up his nose and ears.  Then he started in on his finger.  He squeezed some stuff out of it and cultured it so I am hoping to hear something in the morning.  Since he has no other symptoms, he told us to just treat the fever with tylenol and if he starts having other symptoms then he needs to come back in.  Otherwise, just wait on the culture to determine if we need antibiotics.  Here is the best picture that I could get since he doesn't want anyone near it.

Since he was a good boy at the Dr. office, I decided to treat him to some Marble Slab ice cream.  He loved it!

He is in a much better mood tonight.  Into everything as always :)

Update

Wow it has been since Christmas since I posted last.  Nothing really special going on.  Just growing like a weed.  He will be 15 months old the end of this month. :(  He is walking everywhere and has even started running at times.  He gets into everything!  He would much rather chew on the dog toys than play with his own.  His favorite place to be is in the bathroom.  I think he has a sensor and knows when I forget to close the bathroom door.  He gets in my drawer that has all my pony tail holders and bobbie pins and throws them everywhere.  He also likes our toothbrushes and we occasionally find him in his room chewing on them while he watches tv.

He still only has 6 teeth.  Four on the top and two on the bottom.  He is a good eater still.  Unless you give him peas and carrots.  He loves peas and picks them out and leaves the carrots on his plate, or gives them to the dog.  He is in size 4 diapers now.  Not really sure how much he weighs, we go to the Dr. here soon.  He knows all the sounds to Dog, Cat, Cow, Pig and Chicken.  Ask him to shake his booty and he does just that! It is soooo cute!  He loves to dance.  Disney Channel is still his favorite.  Right now he is hooked on Special Agent Oso, but will watch any show that comes on.

Temper, temper, temper.  This child can be the cutest, sweetest little boy and at the drop of a hat be mean.  He doesn't like to be told No and will fall to the ground fake crying.  Or he will give you his bad eyes and hit you. Urgh!  I hope that this isn't a glimpse of what we have to look forward to and is just a phase.  Please let this be a phase! lol

I have had a birthday in this lapse of blogging.  Just another day really.  I had my second 25th birthday. :) Here is my baby in his birthday suit!

We also missed Valentine's day.  Nothing special there either.  We all got cards and candy.  Liam got new sippy cups with straws in them.  Ryan and I signed up for the 5K Foam Fest and that was our gift to each other.  I had to work. :(  But I got a message while I was at work .....

He will forever be my Valentine!!!!

I have become kind of obsessed with working out and running.  Summer is coming up and I have not only had a child but I feel I have let myself go.  I want to be healthy for Liam and want to be a good example for him.  So, on days that I don't work I spend about 2 hours running and weight lifting.  This year will be the year of 5K races for me.  They are keeping me motivated to keep going.  So far I am signed up for Manchester's St. Patty's Day 5K, The Color Run and 5K Foam Fest.  There are many here in town that I need to sign up for and there is the Glo Run coming up that I want to do too.  I started on my birthday and its been 5 weeks now.  I am proud of myself.  I haven't really seen much progress but I know that I can't stop.  My partner in crime is my BFF Holly.  Our friend Troy is our own personal trainer.  He is working on his personal training license and I highly recommend him when he gets finished!

I took the course for my handgun permit and qualified the same weekend.  I go to get my fingerprints this week and then it will be official!  Bobbi and I qualified together.  Here we are with our silhouettes. Oh, and Liam loves to wear my earmuffs!

We also turned his carseat around a few months ago.  He had started kicking the seat so we figured it was time.  We also put new DVD headrests in so that keeps him preoccupied while I'm driving.  He loves that he gets to look outside and see everything the right way!

Im going to end my blog with a picture of my little model.  And he loves his Aunt Maggie!!!!

Training Partner

Yesterday Liam was my personal trainer.  Holly and I have been training to run a 5k and yesterday I couldn't find anyone to watch him so that I could run, so we decided to push him in his stroller.  In a regular stroller. :S Needless to say it was tough and I need to find a running stroller!  It was his nap time so I was hoping he would fall asleep and in the last five minutes he finally did.  There was too much stuff going on at the beginning and he was too interested in the new scenery and reading his Mickey Mouse book.  We went around the neighborhood until we finished our intervals. It is so much easier to run outside than it is to run on a treadmill.  Now i dread it when the weather is yucky outside because that means I have to run inside.  Here are some pics from yesterdays run.
