This year was the boys 1st fair trip. This year is also the first time Liam was tall enough to ride rides by himself. But more on that in a minute.
Liam loves animals so we knew that he would love going to the barn to see and pet them all.
Checking out the bunnies.
I love this picture of us! Ryan is smiling and Liam is looking and the camera… for once!
Liam finally met our neighbor Harper and rode his first ride with her. Unfortunately, it was an awful experience for him and he didn't want to ride any more rides the rest of the night. This little train was more of a roller coaster type ride and when they went around the curve it jerked his head back and he did not like that at all. Ryan was a nervous wreck, I guess because he thought this little train was going to derail and a limb be cut off or something like that. Who knows! Its a kiddie ride, let him enjoy it! Lol! Anyways, it was 2 for 1 night and Ryan bought $20 worth of tickets which was 22 tickets! Each ride was 3 or 4 tickets. That's $3-$4 a ride! Ridiculous! I digress. Maggie and I ended up using some of the tickets and riding some rides. It was nothing like when we were kids. We were actually fearing for our lives and thinking about what our little families would do if that cart was to come off its hinges and we die or if they tighten the screws on a daily basis. We never had those fears as a child. It was still a adrenaline rush and we had a good time!
Liam didn't care about getting a prize. He just wanted to pick up all the ducks and throw them back into the water.
Liam refused to ride the "merry-go-round" the first time we walked around the fair. Ryan even got on the ride with him and before it even started he wanted off. Aunt Maggie convinced him to get on and sit in one of the chairs with her. He seemed to enjoy it once he realized it wasn't that bad! He liked waving at all of us every time he came around.
On top of spending a fortune for tickets, they rip you off on these little games. You pay $5 to pick up a rubber fish with a magnet and get a dirty little stuffed animal. Liam always picked the weirdest ones like a carrot and a purple seahorse.
He didn't want to at first but I made him get on this train with me. We should of rode this train first before his fair experience was scarred by the first one because he loved this one. He still didn't want to ride anymore rides after that. Next year I need to find him a buddy to go with him so that he has someone to ride with. That will be the good thing with the twins. They will always have sometime to ride with!
We ate corn dogs and cotton candy and I had my ball park pizza. I indulged in deep fried cookie dough which by the way was AMAZING! Liam ended up going the next day with Papa and then Nana took him the day after that. He has battle scars from some of the rides and I am glad that his fear of the fair is gone. As nasty as the fair is, I have lots of memories of the fair and how much fun I had growing up. I want that for all my kids as well!
