January/February house update....
For my birthday they starting working on the steps ... finally. They had to wait for the metal pieces and the front pieces of the treads to come in before they could get started.
Getting ready to start the upstairs as well.
Stairs completed!!!
Since cabinets are so behind, I decided to try and make some of the shelving for some of the closets. I had a plan in mind of what I wanted to do. I watched tons of youtube videos and after measuring a hundred times I finally started cutting out my pieces.
I screwed the braces into the walls and then laid my shelves down on them to make sure they all fit well.
Braces & shelves for closet #2 in and ready for paint ...
Paint complete and the shelf facing added to make the shelf look thicker nailed on. Super proud of myself! I did 2 closets, one for our side of the house and one for the boys side.
Our side
Boys side
Upstairs bonus room carpet in
Some kitchen cabinet drawers installed.
Since I completed the storage closets, I decided to build the boys clothes closets as well. I couldn't wait on our cabinet guy to get it done and the boys have so many clothes it would be a disaster not having somewhere for their clothes to go once we finally move in.
These shelves gave me a headache haha! I made 2 of them and the second shelf on both of them was just not sitting right and I couldn't figure out why. If you come to my house don't look at these too closely. They have 2 shelves on top and eventually there will be 3 drawers on the bottom - thats phase 3.
Ready to paint. Ryan got me a paint sprayer when I had it in my head I was going to paint my whole house to save money. We ended up taking the big sprayer back and getting a handheld smaller one to use for small jobs since we paid someone to paint the house. Thank goodness!!!
They look so good in the closets!
We were at the point where we are sooooo ready to move in and there are just little things keeping us from getting there. Our cabinet guy finally got our stair rail in which is what we were waiting on for our temporary certificate of occupancy.
Getting the boys new beds put up in their rooms
I bought 3 mirrors from Target and had them delivered to the house. All but one were completely shattered when they arrived.
I also put up some shelves in the foyer closet since I have become a closet shelf pro. We will store our coats and outdoor stuff in there.
Putting the rods up completed phase 1 of the boys closets. Phase 2 will be the shelves that sit on top of the rods for more storage. Phase 3 will be the 3 bottom drawers.
Getting things moved in. Since we don't have completed cabinets, everything sits around in boxes.
February 22 we spent our first night in the house. YAY!!!!!!
Last big thing we did was make our driveway bigger so the boys would have a place to play basketball and ride their bikes and electric toys.
Chairs for the island arrived and now we have a place to sit and eat!
Ref even got a new bed! He was so excited!!!
My plants are in heaven here in the new house. And they bring me so much joy watching them grow!
We started building this house in February 2021. We have made a full trip around the sun since we first started to finally moving in. There is still a lot to do around here but I cannot wait to make memories in our forever home.
