Flag Football

Reid has become so interested in football but we weren't ready to throw him into tackle.  With his small body size and lack of knowledge of the game we decided to try out flag football first.  We thought this would give him a better understanding of the game and hopefully less injury too.  We couldn't find a flag football league in our area so we opted for one in Murfreesboro.  Ryan really wanted to coach so he signed up too!  We asked the other two if they wanted to try it.  Liam is always up for trying out new sports to see if he likes it so he was in!  Kane said "absolutely not!"  He wants to try gymnastics. Ryan was hoping that they would be able to put both Reid and Liam on the same team but because they are in different age groups they wouldn't do it.  So they just made a him coach for both teams.

Games started mid March, right before spring break. Games were on Sunday's.  Practices were always an hour before the game.  Since we had kids in two leagues that meant we were there for 4 hours every Sunday!!!!

Reid was on the Jaguars

Liam was on the Bengals

Reid LOVED it!  He played running back and was DANG good at it!

He's a speedster! He scored a touchdown almost every game!

He made a new friend - KJ.  Both played the running back position.

Liam tried his hand at a couple different positions.  His favorite was center.

After the last game, Ryan took Reid's team to Sir Pizza for some celebration pizza.  These kids played their little hearts out and were there for practice during the week if Ryan got one together.  They ate soooo much pizza!!! Im not sure where they put it all!!

At the last football game Liam had a hard fall and tried to catch himself with his left hand.  He asked to be taken out of the game for a little bit but then got back out and played.  The next day as school he landed on that same arm in gym which led us to take him to get a x-ray.  Come to find out he had a radial buckle fracture that required a fracture brace for 4-6 weeks.

Off to the next adventure ... never a dull moment around here!
