Liam's 18 Month Check Up

Like all the other things in my life I am behind on taking Liam to the doctor for his check ups.  For his 18 month check up he was 19 months and 17 days old.  Dr. Eastham's schedule is never available to schedule the next appointment when you are there so I forget to call and when I do call he is so backed up that we get off track.  We went on July 17, and made a day of shopping out of it too.  Aunt Maggie came along with us.  We got Ryan some new running shoes and a haircut and then headed to the Dr. office.  We were early, for once, and sat there for 30 minutes before they took us back.  I stripped him down and they weighed him.  He weighed 23.38 pounds which is the 29%.  He was 32.75 inches long and boy does he hate to lay down to be measured! That makes him 41% in length.  And to no one's surprise his head circumference was 19.09 inches which is the 74%!!!!! Dr. Eastham was happy with how well he is growing and how much he knows.  He was impressed with his Ipad skills!  At the end he got 2 shots  :(  He recieved his DTaP and his Hib vaccine.  He cried out just for a minute or two and by the time we were out of there he was his happy little self!  We went and ate at Fulin's which gave me a horrible headache.  I had picked up an extra shift at work that night so I had no sleep.  When we got home we noticed the dogs were out of the fence.  When we found the dogs we realized that Memphis the great dane had sliced his leg open on the fence so off to the vet we went.  Ryan had to go into work so it was Maggie and I and the 150lb dog.  Thank goodness when we got to the vet that work called me and put me on call.  Dr. Hackett put him to sleep and sewed him up and sent us on our way.  By the time we got home and had to find help to get him in the house and then work called and I had to go in.  Needless to say is was a busy day and looooong night!  Just happy that I have a happy healthy big boy!

Liam's First Haircut

At 18 months we finally decided to cut Liam's hair.  Ryan was against it but he was in desperate need of one!  Linda Anderson was who cut his hair.  She gave him a sucker to keep his attention.  It worked because he did such a good job sitting there! Here are some before pictures of his hair.....

The first cut :( .....

All done!

He is so handsome!

Chattanooga Aquarium

Our cousin Dylan got a job at the Aquarium in Chattanooga and let us know that he had some tickets for us if we wanted to bring Liam down.  We thought it would be fun so we took him up on that offer.  We asked Aunt Maggie to go with us.  We stopped and ate at Sticky Fingers before we went.  Maggie and Ryan had never eaten there before and they loved it! Liam loves fish so he had a blast!  Us adults had a blast too :)

My favorite part of the Aquarium! I love birds, especially ones with a personality!

After the Aquarium we decided to go see an IMAX movie.  We watched a movie about Elephants and Monkeys.  Liam wouldn't wear the glasses but he sat through the whole movie!

Picking Strawberries

A few weeks ago we traveled to Pott's Farm in Wartrace to pick strawberries and blueberries.  When we got there we loaded up on bug spray and grabbed our baskets to start picking.  We read our instructions on which strawberries to pick and headed to the field.  Little did we know we were going to have to walk forever to get to where the strawberries were.  We of course went the wrong way around.  If we would have paid more attention we would have noticed that in the beginning.  But who can pay attention when you are chasing around an 18 month old?  Once we got there we quickly noticed that there wasn't much to choose from.  We obviously came at the wrong time.  They had been picked through and wasn't much there.  We did find a few but we all expected our baskets to fill up a little quicker.  After what seemed like we had been picking forever, there wasn't much in our baskets.  It was hot and the bugs were getting the best of us.  We wanted to pick blueberries too.  After the strawberry ordeal and 2 hot, hungry, unhappy children we opted to buy already picked strawberries in addition to what we had picked, skip the blueberries for another day and grab a snack.  Katy, Alex and Maggie picked strawberry ice cream.  Liam and I chose a strawberry honey popsicle.  We hung out under the carport until we were all done and then headed back to Manchester!

Liam's strawberries.  His job was to carry the basket and leave them in there.  As you can see, we lost a few along the way!

What's a hot day without a meltdown?

Playing with Alex

Alex is such a sweet boy!

Liam had to stop for a game break.  That boy loves his technology.  Alex was making sure he was doing it right :)

Summer Day with Alex

I am once again behind in blogging (Sigh!) About a month ago we went to my friend Katy's house to play with her son, Alex.  Katy and I have been friends for a long time and it is nice to have a friend who has someone to play with "baby Liam" as Alex calls him.  Katy called us one day and said they were playing outside in the sprinklers and wanted to know if we wanted to join. So I packed up a lunch, put Liams bathing suit on him and we picked up Aunt Maggie and headed her way!  Liam wasn't so sure about running through the sprinklers by himself.  He would run around them instead.

I had to intervene and run him through the sprinklers....

This was his reaction afterwards ....

"Look at me!!!"

Aunt Maggie ran me through them too! This time it was more fun!...

He would much rather play with the gator ...

We tried playing with water in the little tub...

Then we moved into the big tub! ...

Alex liked to drive him around.  Liam didn't mind a bit! ...

"HIIIIII" as he says.  And sometimes it's "HIDEE" :) ...
